Flora by Moullinex

Hailing from Portugal and currently based in Munich, Luis Clara Gomes spent the past few years running Discotexas, one of the most prominent nu-disco labels in Europe. In that time, he has also released several popular remixes for artists like Gigamesh, Cut Copy, Xinobi, Zimmer, Two Door Cinema Club and Sebastién Tellier as well as some original tracks of his own.

Flora, his first attempt on a full length album, is a fantastic piece of work and we urge everyone to take a listen. Gomes presents himself as an established producer in complete control of every beat in this release. He showcases an extremely versatile style within disco music, transitioning from the luxurious, jazzy mood of ‘Déja Vu’ and ‘Darkest Night’ to the space-disco bass lines of ‘Take My Pain Away.’

The album also includes a cover of the Michael Sembello’s iconic Flashdance track ‘Maniac,’ with vocals by no one else than Peaches. This release definitely has us looking forward to a future Moullinex’s appearance in NYC.

The entire Flora album was kindly made available for preview by Moullinex himself, and is out now on Gomma Records. You can grab a copy here.
