After a fun and exciting Paradisco season and kicking off Gay Pride Weekend with an epic evening hosting Horse Meat Disco at Cielo, we’re eager to heat things up just a little bit more this summer with our first venture with the Standard High Line’s famous nightclub, Le Bain. We have collaborated with the club to bring yet another absolutely amazing and talented friend of OXD, Mighty Mouse, to one of NYC’s most iconic spaces. We will also introduce you to a newer talent on the scene, San Francisco’s Lane 8, who will be spinning a special guest DJ set. As you have come to expect, the boys of OXD will also provide supplemental tunes, showcasing the best of disco and house music. While we have occupied Le Bain on many occasions, we’re looking forward to officially hosting our friendly music loving crowd of gays and their allies back to this exciting venue for some of our favorite artists. Make sure to RSVP for the guestlist.
For readers who have been with us for a while, you may remember Mighty Mouse from last February, when we occupied Cameo Gallery for our first experience seeing Mighty Mouse live. We were out in full force that night and Mighty Mouse’s genre-defying taste and original productions proved to be the perfect soundtrack to one of the best nights out dancing with our friends. Since then, Mighty Mouse has teamed up with Matt Van Schie from Van She to create Du Tonc, the act responsible for not only one of our favorite songs of the year, but a favorite video as well: ‘Darkness.’
Lane 8 first came to our attention when The Magician played the San Francisco House music producer’s debut single, ‘Don’t Want You Back’ on one of his Magic Tape mixtapes. In early 2013, Lane 8 released his most popular single to date, the Diana Ross-inspired house music jam, ‘Every Night‘. Lane 8’s DJ sets are known to include his own energetic productions with private remixes of hip hop and funk classics, as well and exclusive new music edits that create a unique experience for the audience.
