Paradisco @Le Bain, 3.30.14 – Celebrating 2 Years of OXD with DJ Lina

It has been quite a journey for Occupy The Disco since its inception and we’re proud to be celebrating our 2 year anniversary at this Sunday’s special edition of Paradisco! What started out as a simple gathering of friends who wanted to experience new music together has turned into something much greater than any of us have ever imagined. A huge thank you goes out to all DJs, promoters, venues, music lovers and dancers who believe in our mission and became the most important part of OXD’s success.

To help us ring in this momentous occasion we’ve called on our dear friend DJ Lina to join us for a special guest set at 5pm, so come early! Lina will add the special Fire Island flavor that only she can supply, just before she heads out to the Pines next week. OXD’s DJ RuBot, Tad Haes & Josh Appelbaum will keep everyone dancing for rest of day (and evening) with yet another dose of summery disco and house music.

Le Bain Presents Occupy The Disco with DJ Will Automagic, Ryan Smith & Lina Bradford, 1.24.14

On January 24th, we’re excited to kick 2014 off with a bang when we return to Le Bain at The Standard, Highline. The iconic venue will go gay yet again with headliners DJ Will Automagic (Spank!, The Carry Nation), Ryan Smith (Wrecked) and Lina Bradford. While you’ve certainly heard these DJs before, it’s not often that they share the same marquee despite their very complementary sound.

As always, don’t forget to join our event page and spread the word to your friends. And make sure to arrive early for easy entry and to catch Lina’s opening set which starts at 10pm.

Our last party at Le Bain featured headliners Mike Servito and Sean B and we almost blew the roof off the place with all the excitement and energy on the dancefloor. To top it all off, our dear friend Plastic Plates also surprised the crowd with a special closing set that had people dancing until the wee hours of the morning. This time around, Fire Island’s Lina Bradford is also joining us to play a special opening set. Lina is spending the winter in London so this is a rare NYC nightclub appearance you don’t want to miss! We encourage everyone to get there early to experience these three DJs for the first time under one roof!

Last year, in addition to occupying traditionally “straight” venues in New York we had the opportunity to fill a void in the city’s gay nightlife scene. From Paradisco at THE OUT NYC to A.D.C. at Atlas Social Club, and our collaborations with Le Bain, we curated a sound that wasn’t heard at other popular gay venues. We brought a music loving gay community together and experienced some amazing talent from the house and disco scene. Check out some highlights from last year’s parties below, and we hope to see you on the dancefloor!

Paradisco @THE OUT NYC, 2.10.13

Over the past year we have striven to keep the gay community abreast of the hottest and latest disco and house music acts that are coming to the New York area. The Occupy The Disco team, comprised of Josh, Ru and Tadeu, came together because of our shared love of music and our desire to expose our friends and other open minded individuals to that which we are passionate about. While we are going to continue to focus on occupying these events as they come along, we’re excited to announce a brand new venture: Paradisco. We have partnered up with Patrick Duffy and the OUT NYC to deliver a unique musical experience that caters specifically to the gay crowd.

We have called upon our dear friend, the legendary DJ Lina Bradford, to provide the music for the party. We have worked with Lina to create a sound that remains true to the classic disco and soulful house music she is known for, but will prove to be a whole new vibe to be enjoyed. Though the music and dancing is our focus for this party, THE OUT NYC will provide us all with some fun amenities, including hot tubs. So join us this Sunday as we make our first foray into giving you a brand new OXD experience.

We curate the music. We curate the vibe. Just show up, and let’s have a little fun.
