French pop duo Lilly Wood & The Prick have been making silly yet delightful music since their inception in 2008, sounding very much in line with their playful band name. ‘Middle Of The Night’ was the first single off of their 2012 sophomore album The Fight. Though a little late following the release of this song, fellow Frenchman Yuksek readies this track for the dancefloor with this recent remix. Hand claps, bouncing bass and nu-disco synths complement lead singer Nili Hadida’s vocals nicely for a track that we expect to start hearing out quite often.
Last June, when The Magician and Plastic Plates announced a gig at Le Poisson Rouge, we knew it would be an epic night. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, The Magician had to terminate his US tour before that night and go back to Europe. Though we had a fantastic time dancing to Plastic Plates, we regret to have missed the opportunity to hear The Magician spin as well. Thankfully, he has scheduled his comeback to NYC and we will be occupying LPR to check out the trend-setter DJ spin some of the best sounds out there.
Formerly half of Belgian nu-disco act Aeroplane, The Magician has been responsible for boosting the popularity of some of our favorite tunes through his Magic Tapes. His mixtape series is currently at its 25th edition and have become one of the main sources for the most up and coming songs in the nu-disco scene.
On the production side, his latest release under the moniker Peter & The Magician (in collaboration with Yuksek), called ‘Memory,’ is out now on Kitsuné and is a killer track for the dancefloor.
The Magician’s remixes are also amongst some of the most popular dance tunes recently. He has given new treatments to songs by artists like Sébastien Tellier, Sam Sparro, RAC, and Lykke Li.
Supporting The Magician that night are the excellent British DJ and producer Mighty Mouse, as well as Fixed NYC resident DJs Dave P and JDH.
Like our previous Occupy events, this will not be a night to miss. Be sure to let us know you’re coming either in the comments below, or RSVP on our Facebook Event Page.

In a fashion similar to how we meet many of our followers, Jupiter found each other randomly one night on the dancefloor. This chance encounter sparked a kinship between the two and they decided to start making music together. The French duo first gained attention by remixing Anoraak, Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club, followed by their two first EPs, Starlighter and Vox Populi. In 2011, Jupiter became part of the Kitsuné family with the release of their big hit ‘Saké,’ which catapulted their disco-flavored electro style to a worldwide audience.
Not letting the ball drop, they rapidly started working on their debut album, Juicy Lucy which came out this past June. This hot-off-the-press album sounds fun, fresh and somewhat retro, creating a great mix of electro and disco-funk.
Friday, August 3rd they will be showcasing their DJ set at Cameo Gallery in Williamsburg. The small, intimate venue is well-suited for a weekend dance party and we are very excited to check these guys out.

French label Kitsuné is world renowned for taste-making in the electronic music world, and when we heard they’re having a Bastille Day party at Le Bain to celebrate their new compilation, Kitsuné Soleil Mix, we knew we had to Occupy! OXD can say through experience that the Kitsuné imprimatur on anything pretty much guarantees it will be spectacular. So why not bring a great crowd to the party and share in the fun?
As you can tell from previewing the compilation below (which includes tracks from Cut Copy, Goldroom, Gigamesh, Plastic Plates, and M83), we’re very excited about this new release. The fact that the label has brought in Moon Boots and Punks Jump Up to spin at the event only cements the notion that it will be a fantastic party with great music.
Moon Boots is a bit elusive but we do recognize that every release the American DJ and producer puts out is top-notch. Of interesting note, his song ‘Off My Mind’ beautifully opens the Future Disco Vol. 5: Downtown Express compilation, which we are still playing on repeat.
A more recent track is Moon Boots’ rework for Monsoon Season’ ‘Green On Blue’ which features vocals by Miss Bee, was just released this week.
Punks Jump Up is a duo comprised of Londoner Joe Attard & the Swede David Andersson, who have remixed many artists such as Miike Snow, Lykke Li, Gossip, Robyn, Yelle and more. They also released three singles of their own, the latest being ‘Mr. Overtime,’ with vocals by Dave 1 from Chromeo.
We hope you’re able to join us on the 15th. We had a great turnout at our last Occupy event and it would be great to share a dance again. Give us a shout in the comments, or join the event page on Facebook and let us know if you’re able to make it.

Gigamesh is the alter-ego of American producer Matt Masurka, who has been pleasing us with a constant stream of great tunes and remixes that range from nu-disco to synth-pop and electro. On Thursday, June 7th, Gigamesh will be turning the tables at Hudson Terrace and we will definitely be there to check it out.
Just this past week, Gigamesh released his second EP, All My Life, on French label Kitsuné. Watch below the video for ‘Your Body,’ the third track out of this new work, as well as a preview of his new EP.
All My Life is a follow up to his 2011 self-titled EP, which included one of OXD’s favorite tracks last year, ‘When You’re Dancing.’ Gigamesh has also remixed Ladyhawke’s latest single, ‘Sunday Drive,’ and has reworked tracks for names such as Foster The People, Classixx, and Katy B. Another OXD favorite is his remix of Citizens!’ ‘True Romance,’ which can be heard below.
Don’t forget to RSVP for free entrance to Hudson Terrance until midnight.
