Electronic musician Alain Queme drew from the region of France he used to live in, Brax, when it came for inspiration for his stage name: Alan Braxe. Braxe released a series of EPs throughout the late nineties and early aughts but is probably most well known for teaming up alongside Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and vocalist Benjamin Diamond to create the French supergroup Stardust. Though the trio only released one track, the infectious house classic ‘Music Sounds Better With You,’ their impact on the scene was massive as the song topped all the major charts in the year it was released.
Braxe is seen as a key figure in the French House music scene and has collaborated frequently with disco giants Fred Falke and Kris Menace. Braxe has also been asked to create many high profile remixes including those for some of our favorite gay divas as you can hear below. His unique style is heavily influenced by disco–putting him on our short list of artists to look out for whenever a new remix package hits the stands.
Though Braxe has been making music since the nineties, he only recently started DJing. New Yorkers are lucky that he will be spinning at Hudson Terrace this Thursday as part of the ever popular Vibrations party. We’re looking forward to hearing his set for what is sure to be a fun evening underneath the starlit sky, and hope you’ll be there to join us. Don’t forget to RSVP for free entrance before midnight.
