Plastic Plates’ various NYC appearances have always been on our radar since OXD’s inception. His set at Le Poisson Rouge during Pride weekend last year was one our most memorable OXD events and since then we have also had amazing nights listening to him at Tamanny Hall, The DL and most recently, Output, our new favorite NYC venue. We’re proud to have played our part in helping Plastic Plates become a known name to gay New Yorkers, and are incredibly excited to announce that the man himself will be our guest DJ at this Sunday’s extra special edition of Paradisco.
Plastic Plates is the alias of Felix Bloxsom, who originally hails from Sydney, Australia, and is now based in Los Angeles. Plastic Plates’ distinct synth-y disco sound has attracted both indie, dance and mainstream pop artists to commission remixes from him. These artists include Adele, Sia, Body Language, The Presets, Sam Sparro, The Human League, Sneaky Sound System, The Magician, Katy Perry, Mark Ronson and more. 2012 saw the release of Plastic Plates’ debut EP Things I didn’t Know I Loved on french tastemaker record label Kitsuné.
Following last Sunday’s epic edition with Tim Sweeney, we are once again incredibly honored to showcase an artist we respect so much at our Paradisco. Check out his latest mixtape below, a hint of what’s to come this weekend. RSVP on our Facebook event page and spread the word for another afternoon full of great house music, serious dancing and friendly faces.
