Tad Haes: Pianeira

Many instruments have been used and experimented with by producers when creating house music over the past three decades. And while many of them are important key elements to turn tracks into dancefloor hits, none is as iconic and memorable as the piano. Tad Haes from OXD explores the uniqueness of piano driven house tracks in the mixtape ‘Pianeira,’ with styles ranging from happy to introspective and jazzy.

Ru-Mix: Makes Me Wanna Give It

OXD’s own Ru Bhatt (DJ RuBot) has made a new mixtape for you to enjoy this weekend. The title, ‘Makes Me Wanna Give It,’ is a nod to Duke Dumont’s ‘Giver,’ a track that has made the crowd go absolutely wild at previous Occupy the Disco events (both Aeroplane and The Magician played the track during their sets). Ru has built the mixtape around that song and created an energizing house mix that will have you itching to find a dance floor. Stream the podcast below, or download it directly here. You can also subscribe to Ru’s mixes via iTunes.

The Ru-Mix – Perfect Summer Day II: ‘Sugar Boat Disco’

Part II of the ‘Perfect Summer Day’ series, ‘Sugar Boat Disco’ showcases the emerging trend of R&B hits from yesterday being refashioned into Balearic disco & house tracks. There are a few artists that have pretty much cornered the market on this (almost all of them from one of our favorite labels, French Express) so this mix consistently delivers a great, chilled-out vibe. With its tropical disco sound, these nostalgia driven tracks are best enjoyed poolside or at the beach, preferably with some friends to partake in the revelry. Keep the cocktails flowing as Part III, which is coming tomorrow, will keep the party going as you dance under the setting sun.
